Master of Education (MED)

This degree course is designed for educators in public and private schools who are seeking professional growth and development opportunities and wish to complete their graduate studies in a distance format. The students of this course can choose an emphasis in Professional Leadership and Professional Educator.

Teacher Leadership
The Teacher Leadership program is designed for teachers who wish to acquire the knowledge and skills to become effective coaches or mentors within their school. The students from this course will learn how to facilitate the exploration of needs, desires, motivations, and the personal development of others.

Master of Education - Professional Educator Emphasis
This program is designed for educators at various levels who are seeking professional growth and wish to enhance their teaching-related knowledge and skills. The program consists of professional, foundational, and research coursework in the areas of human development and learning, design, curriculum evaluation, selection, and implementation, instructional strategies, and peer mentoring and support.

Administrative Leadership
The Administrative Leadership program is designed for teachers who wish to acquire the knowledge and skills to become administrators at the school and district level. The coursework of this course focuses on school law and finance, educational leadership, and personnel selection and supervision.

Master of Education - Professional Leadership Emphasis
This program is designed for educators who seek to develop their leadership skills and become effective and creative leaders in their school. The students of this course can select from two areas of specialization:

• Teacher Leadership
• Administrative Leadership

Master of Education- Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment
The Master of Education- Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment program is designed for teachers who seek to advance their knowledge and expertise in curriculum design and assessment approaches. This course focuses on curriculum evaluation, selection, design, and implementation, educational technology, and current and interdisciplinary issues in education today.

Master of Education- Space Studies
The Master of Education- Space Studies program is designed for teachers who are interested in providing academic training in the area of space science. This program focuses on human development and learning, curriculum design and implementation, and space studies including earth system science, space history, rocketry and the biology of living in space, biological and physical research, astronomy, and space technologies.

Master of Education- Reading
The students of this course will focus on the areas of literacy such as writing, reading, and language development for all populations. This perspective will prepare the candidate to teach learners in a variety of methodologies that include areas such as:

• socio-psycholinguistics
• cultural diversity
• constructivism
• skill development
• standard-based instruction.

Master if Education- Instructional Technology
This program is designed to meet the needs of students interested in positions at the K12 level and higher education/corporate levels.
