This program is designed to develop and enhance the knowledge and skills of registered nurses and also for those nurses who want to pursue more advanced positions in today's challenging health care environment. The program provides nursing theory with advanced practice concepts necessary to successfully work within the culture, structure, and mission of any size health care organization.

This course consists of three major areas:

  • The core:
    the core incorporates the major foci of a Master of Science in Nursing degree like ethical Nursing issues, the theory of Nursing, and the influence of Nursing research on the advanced practice of Nursing.

  • The major:
    The major includes advanced course work in Nursing like administration, education and management of families and aggregates.

  • The cognate:
    The cognate includes course work concerning today's health care environment like health care finance and databased decision making, health care infrastructure.
