Ellis College brings you the career-oriented professional education, in an online environment that is collaborative, stimulating. From the professional accounting student will learn professional accounting, external auditing, taxation, consulting, and related professions. Because of the diverse knowledge required to be successful in this field, ten courses in the area are required.

Online courses included in Professional Accounting:

  • Accounting Information Systems
    This include the fundamentals of accounting information systems knowledge base needed by accounting professionals, business information generated by organizational and accounting processes and operations, application areas in an organization, and risks and internal controls.

  • Financial Accounting
    This includes the study of theoretical and analytical aspects of financial accounting, with asset valuation, liabilities and corporate proprietary equities.

  • Cost Accounting
    This includes the study of cost accounting to the various levels of management and the dual function of cost as an information system and as a tool for planning and control. You will learn budgets and standard cost systems as a function for planning and control, direct costing, as an aid to decision making.

  • Not for Profit Accounting
    This generally includes organization such as governmental units, universities, hospitals, foundations and charitable institutions where the accounting is not considered for profit.

  • Federal Taxation II
    It is for partnerships, corporations, estates and trusts.

  • Internal Auditing
    This includes the study of internal control questionnaires, flowcharting, interviewing and statements and standards of major professional auditing and accounting bodies. Fundamentals of auditing principles and procedures, form and content of auditor's reports, professional ethics and legal responsibilities, EDP considerations, statistical sampling applications in auditing.

  • Principles of Investment and Security Analysis
    From the investment and security analysis you will learn how individuals and institutions make their investment decisions. The risks and returns involved in investing in different financial instruments are examined.

  • Business Law II
    This includes the study of Law of property, application of Uniform Commercial Code to sales transactions and secured transactions, bankruptcy and related subjects. A study of government regulations as applied to business activities.

  • Advanced Accounting
    This include the study of how to arrange business combinations; merger, consolidation, acquisition of common stock and acquisition of assets
