This degree program is designed for the professionals whose primary interest is the management of natural resources for organizations that plan or regulate the use of natural resources, or commercial operations that extract and use such resources. This program provides management, technical, and communication and negotiation knowledge required to function as a senior analyst or manager within organizations whose focus is recreational use, forestry, mineral extraction, surface water management, zoning/planning, land use management, etc.

The students of this course will:

  • Gain the knowledge of the basic scientific concepts of natural resources management, the historical trends and current conditions of natural resource usage, and the capacity of natural resource systems to respond and recover from human use and abuse.
  • Demonstrate the understanding of historic view of natural resources and the changing paradigms in natural resource policies.
  • Learn to acquire knowledge about primary resources and the science that underlies their management.
